Defaults

The default settings determine how Khan2Canvas will handle scores across the entire spreadsheet. These can be overridden for individual assignments if needed.

The Zero Scores setting determines, by default, how Khan2Canvas will handle situations where the student has attempted the Khan Academy assignment but answered no questions correctly therefore receiving no points. It can be overridden per assignment using the Assignment Settings. The two available options are explained below:

  • Yes:
    • Zero scores are allowed. If a student receives no points after completing an attempt, a score of zero will be sent to Canvas. Note that a zero score is overridden by the Minimum Score percentage of the Canvas assignment points.
  • No:
    • Zero scores are not allowed. If a student receives no points after completing an attempt, it will be treated as though the student has not attempted the assignment and the Missing Scores setting will determine how it is handled.

The Missing Scores setting determines, by default, how Khan2Canvas will handle situations where the student has not completed an attempt of the assignment in Khan Academy. It can be overridden per assignment using the Assignment Settings. The three available options are explained below:

  • Missing:
    • The assignment will be marked as missing in Canvas. Note that it will only be marked as missing if the due date defined in Canvas for the assignment has already passed. Otherwise, the score will be left blank in Canvas. The gradebook settings on Canvas can be set to award a percentage of the assignment points for missing assignments.
  • Zero:
    • A score of zero will be sent to Canvas. Note that a zero score is overridden by the Minimum Score percentage of the Canvas assignment points.
  • No Score:
    • No score will be sent to Canvas for the assignment it will be left blank on Canvas.

The Scoring setting determines, by default, what score will be used from Khan Academy. It can be overridden per assignment using the Assignment Settings. The three available options are explained below:

  • Best Score:
    • The highest, or best, score the student achieved at any point, before or after the due date set in Khan Academy will be used. Note that using this option will result in scores being retroactively updated.
  • Due Date:
    • The highest score that the student achieved on the Khan Academy assignment before the due date set in Khan Academy will be used.
  • Completion:
    • The student will receive full points if they have fully attempted the assignment regardless of how many points they earn on it in Khan Academy and whether it was completed before or after the due date.

The Minimum Score is the lowest score that will be given to a student by Khan2Canvas in the spreadsheet. It is a percentage of the Canvas points available for the assignment. For more information visit the Minimum Score page.
